Dallas, A Great Literary City

The New York Times recently named Dallas “home to one of the most dynamic, international literary scenes in the country.” Dallas boasts a rich network of independent bookstores, literary festivals, and writers’ organizations. The city hosts celebrated events such as the  and  at the Dallas Museum of Art.

 

Writers can explore , a beloved Oak Cliff bookstore and bar that doubles as a literary salon, and attend readings and workshops through , a long-standing hub for the local writing community. èßäÊÓÆµapp English also enjoys a close association with , America’s largest publisher of literature in translation. The founder and publisher, Will Evans teaches classes on publishing in our department and each summer two èßäÊÓÆµapp grad student enjoy paid internships at Deep Vellum, where they learn about the art and business of publishing.
