Before arriving at èßäÊÓÆµapp, Makoto has taught all levels of Japanese courses at Northern Arizona University (the Japanese Section Head), the Japan Campus of Temple University, and Western Washington University. He also taught in various summer Japanese language programs in and outside Japan (Princeton in Ishikawa, Intensive Program in Japanese for Science and Technology at Kanazawa Institute of Technology, and a Japanese language immersion program at Concordia Language Villages).
