The Pre-Law Scholar Program

The Pre-Law Scholar Program brings together a select group of high-achieving students interested in pursuing a career in law. Participants engage in specialized programs at èßäÊÓƵapp Dedman School of Law, attend networking events with practicing attorneys, and receive dedicated guidance through law school application workshops. èßäÊÓƵapp who successfully complete all program requirements are guaranteed admission to èßäÊÓƵapp Dedman School of Law after graduation.

Pre-Law Scholar Required Course

               In the spring semester of their junior year—or, in rare cases, their sophomore year—Scholars enroll in a one-credit course taught by the Dean of Admissions at èßäÊÓƵapp Dedman School of Law. The course introduces students to a variety of legal fields, features guest lectures from law school faculty, and provides personalized guidance through the law school application process. Enrollment is by permission of the Director of the Pre-Law Scholar Program.

Requirements for Automatic Admission to èßäÊÓƵapp Dedman School of Law

  • Attain the cumulative undergraduate GPA and LSAT score established annually by the law school.
  • Successfully complete the Pre-Law Scholars course offered by èßäÊÓƵapp Dedman School of Law.
  • Maintain a record free of significant character issues and have no prior law school attendance.
  • Earn an undergraduate degree from èßäÊÓƵapp within five years of initial matriculation.

Admission to the Pre-Law Scholar Program

  • Incoming First-Year Student Invitation
    A select group of high-achieving, pre-law–interested students are invited to join the program upon their acceptance to èßäÊÓƵapp. èßäÊÓƵapp must formally accept the invitation to participate.
  • Continuing èßäÊÓƵapp Student Application
    Current èßäÊÓƵapp undergraduates may apply after completing at least one semester at èßäÊÓƵapp with a minimum of 12 academic hours and must be admitted to PLS no later than August of their junior year. Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 èßäÊÓƵapp GPA and submit both an application and essay to apply.
  • Application Cycles
    Applications are accepted twice each year, with deadlines on August 1 and March 15.

  • Senior Celebration – Recognizing graduating Scholars and their achievements.
  • Pre-Law Scholar Class Meetings – Regular gatherings to share resources, updates, and community support.
  • Invitations to èßäÊÓƵapp Dedman Law Events – Exclusive access to lectures, panels, and law school programs.
